the Zugspitze ist mit 2962 m ü. dem Meeresspiegel, der höchste Gipfel des Wettersteingebirges und gleichzeitig Deutschlands höchster Berg, den es sich mit Österreich teilt. Die Zugspitze erhebt sich elf Kilometer südwestlich von Garmisch-Partenkirchen und knapp sechs Kilometer östlich von Ehrwald. Über den Westgipfel verläuft die Grenze zwischen Deutschland und Österreich. Damit gehört das Zugspitzmassiv zum deutschen Bundesland Bayern und zum österreichischen Tirol.
