Shanghai
The metropolis of Shanghai offers an almost endless list of small and large tourist attractions and places of interest. Explore what is probably the westernmost of all cities in China. The Huangpu River divides the city into two districts: Pudong and Puxi.
Bangkok River View
Shanghai with its almost 20 million inhabitants is a city that has developed like no other Chinese city in the last 30 years. This city also has its great corners and places to be.
One of the first experiences that everyone here in China will inevitably have is the often poor information provided by locals. If the taxi driver doesn't know where you are going, don't be surprised if he lets you out on a street corner with the information that your desired destination is there. Often you end up somewhere, just certainly not where you actually wanted to go. You are never told that you don't know where the desired location is. you are more likely to be given the wrong information, just to save face. Driving a taxi with a taximeter only. One of the biggest barriers is the language barrier. Hardly anyone can speak English. In the wake of smartphones, translation apps have found their way, a blessing. Before you travel, download the most relevant, as many will read the word. These are by far the best help, because unfortunately taxi drivers in particular are often not able to read.

Shanghai is one of the most popular layover destinations. Countless restaurants, many stylish bars, coupled with many shopping opportunities and excursion options.

Shopping:
Before we get to the shopping tips, we would like to introduce a few important information. The tips listed here come from positive feedback. However, we cannot guarantee this.

Tricks: Haggling is part of business; unsuspecting buyers are often taken advantage of. Often the purchased goods are not fully packed, or insufficient or wrong money is given out. Another nasty trick when buying clothes: If the desired size is not available, the dealer offers to get a suitable piece; out of sight, only the label is then adapted to the customer's request.
In the markets, non-Chinese are always confronted with fantasy prices. If you are interested, for example, in a jacket, a bag or the like, you have to reckon with claims between CNY 300 and 2500, although a maximum of CNY 150 would be realistic.
It makes no sense at all to gradually meet somewhere in the middle when trading, as this would also be completely exaggerated. Do not be afraid to answer a request with one tenth or twentieth of the requested amount. It is much easier for you to trade if you make it clear that you know about the appropriate price level. Don't be fooled by the whining, this is pure acting. If you cannot agree on a price and have clearly decided to leave, then suddenly the goods are given to you at “your” price. You can assume that the seller and a few other people still earn something from it. But this is usually limited to the street markets. In contrast, the price demands in many reputable shops are realistic, e.g. B. CNY 30 for a strand of freshwater pearls and acting according to the above pattern is neither desired nor appropriate there.

Be careful when buying DVDs and cheap watches, which are usually of very poor quality!

Colleagues are reporting more and more rude and aggressive behavior on the part of dealers towards their customers. At the Yatai Shenghui Market at the Science & Technology Museum Metro Station, there was also aggressive and sometimes physical behavior on the part of the traders after they could not agree on a purchase price. It is therefore recommended not to appear alone in the markets and not to be lured into secluded rooms.

Animal welfare: In order to be able to manufacture and sell fur, animals of all kinds, including cats and dogs, are extremely abused in China. Committed colleagues ask you to refrain from buying fur and other animal products.
